About Exponents

An exponent shows how many times a number (base) is multiplied by itself. For example, 2³ = 2 × 2 × 2 = 8. Negative exponents mean reciprocal: 2⁻³ = 1/8. Fractional exponents represent roots: 8^(1/3) = ∛8 = 2.
